City of West Monroe issues update on COVID-19

Effective March 17, some City facilities will close to the public including the Senior Center, Community Center, The Rec and the City's Utility Payment Center. City services will continue to be provided to the public.

Per the mandate of Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards issued Monday afternoon, the City of West Monroe has made the following announcements in its continued effort to protect the public from the spread of COVID-19.

Effective Tuesday, March 17, the following City facilities will be closed:
• West Ouachita Senior Center
• West Monroe Community Center
• The Rec
• City of West Monroe Utility Payment Center (located at City Hall)

Assistance is still available to the public at these facilities. For assistance at the Senior Center, call (318) 324-1280 and for assistance at the Community Center, call (318) 387-4001.

There are multiple ways for City of West Monroe Utility customers to pay their monthly bill which include:
• By Mail
• By Dropbox at City Hall
• 24/7 Kiosk located in the City Hall parking lot
• Online payment at www.westmonroe.com

City of West Monroe offices and programs will continue to operate to serve the public. Please check with each city department and facility for specific operational information. The West Ouachita Public Transit will remain available to the public. Call (318) 397-3299 for more information about the Transit System.

Kiroli Park will continue to remain open to the public. Park attendees are encouraged to practice social distancing and CDC hygiene guidelines.

West Monroe Mayor Staci Mitchell has instructed all city department heads to take extra precautions to disinfect public facilities. The public is strongly encouraged to use proper hygiene and follow recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The City of West Monroe encourages the public to exercise patience and tolerance at this time.
