Occupational License, Taxes & Permits

The City of West Monroe requires all businesses within the municipality to obtain an Occupational License upon commencement of the business and to renew it annually as long as the business is in operation as permitted by the Louisiana Revised Statutes 47:341, A & B. License fees are based on the gross revenue of the business and assessed according to Louisiana Occupational License Tax Tables beginning with RS 47:354.


December: 1st mailing of tax notices to homeowners and mortgage companies
May: certified notices of delinquent property taxes mailed to homeowners and delinquent property tax homeowners will be printed in the Ouachita Citizen legal notices
June: Tax Sale of all delinquent property taxes


Sales taxes are centralized for the parish. Contact the City of Monroe, 316 Breard St., Monroe LA 71201. Applications may be downloaded from their website and mailed to their address or faxed to 318-329-2362.
