River & Road Poker Run 2016

River & Road Poker Run 2016

Saturday, August 6, 2016 (All day)

The Rotary Club of the Twin Cities is set to host its sixth annual River and Road Poker Run on Saturday, August 6.

The annual Poker Run combines the beauty of the Ouachita River with the roar of the rural highways and byways of Ouachita Parish with 9 boat stops, 9 bike stops, an after party reception with food, drinks, live music by Rickey Pittman, and The Reactors, door prizes and more.

Twin Cities Rotary hosts the annual event as its biggest fundraiser to continue its service projects and volunteerism throughout the community. As we did last year, a portion of this year’s proceeds will be donated to the US Soldiers Foundation – a group that provides services to soldiers, veterans and their families such as housing, job-training, education, and other needs.

“We invite the community to come out and support this annual event, because it’s not just supporting Twin Cities Rotary it’s supporting the men and women who have risked their lives to protect our great country,” Holly Healey said, club president.

There is a registration party on August 5 at 7 p.m. at Trapp’s. Saturday, event registration begins at 10 a.m. on August 6 at Lazarre Point and Columbia (Main Street). Stops open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the after party reception and dealing of the cards will begin at 7 p.m. at the Ike Hamilton Expo in West Monroe.

There is a donation of $25 per hand dealt, and dealing will begin at 8 p.m. at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center. Participants must be in line by 9 p.m. to receive a hand, and any additional card may be purchased for a $10 donation. Participants must be at least 21 years of age to participate. There is a grand prize of $10,000 – for a royal flush using the original hand the participant was dealt.

The nine river stops include: Sterlington Bridge Boat Ramp, Moon Lake Marina, Short John Beach, The Landing, Trapp’s Restaurant, Lazarre Park Recreation Area, Prairion Boat Ramp, Logtown, and Columbia – Main St.

The nine road stops include: Sterlington Bridge Boat Ramp, Moon Lake Marina, The Landing, The FieldHouse Bar and Grill, River Grille, Edward Jones Financial on 18th St, Lazarre Park Recreation Area, Prairion Boat Ramp, and Columbia – Main St.

This is a “no rain-out” poker run – meaning it will continue through rain, shine, hurricane, flash flood, or any other natural event.
