Citizens Police Academy

A Program of Citizens and Police working hand in hand – Thriving together

The Citizen's Police Academy is a free of cost ten-week program designed to give the public a working knowledge of the West Monroe Police Department. Each session consists of weekly classes that meet at the West Monroe Senior Center located at 1800 North 7th Street. Classes will be held each Tuesday evening from 6 pm - 9 pm. Our next class will begin on August 27, 2019 and end on October 22, 2019.

The instruction gives students a thorough knowledge of the job of a Police Officer, and the West Monroe Police Department. Each week different units within the department are covered. The West Monroe Police Department sponsors the Citizen's Police Academy with the goal of educating attendees on the operations of the Department. This is accomplished through a series of lectures and hands-on activities. The Citizen's Police Academy is led by the Community Services Coordinator, with all lectures and activities taught by Police Officers whose current assignments are directly involved in the policing activities covered in their segment of the academy.
