West Monroe Partners, a full-service North American business and technology consultancy, today announced that it has been named one of Consulting® magazine’s 2015 Excellence in Social & Community Investment award winners for its pro bono work with CommunityHealth in Chicago. CommunityHealth is the largest volunteer-based free medical facility in the United States.
Since 2013, West Monroe has provided business and technology expertise to support CommunityHealth in two ways. It has performed several pro bono projects that helped CommunityHealth operate more efficiently and effectively; for example, an IT/process assessment of point-of-care services and implementation of new practice management and electronic medical records solutions. The firm also has donated (and continues to donate) 24/7 IT help-desk and user-support services that help CommunityHealth maintain a reliable infrastructure. William Hinde, a director and healthcare insurance practice lead with West Monroe Partners in Chicago, has served on the organization’s board of directors for the past several years.
“We do great work in our communities every day, and that all starts with our people, their interests and passions, and their deep commitment to social responsibility,” said Douglas Armstrong, West Monroe Partners’ Chicago office leader. “Like much of our work in the community, this relationship began with individual involvement and initiative and has grown to become a team effort that taps our skills and expertise to promote an important cause. We are proud to be recognized for this work but even prouder to be supporting an organization that has had such a profound impact in our community.”
“While the Affordable Care Act provides millions of Americans with new healthcare options, there are many who continue to fall through cracks in the system, including an estimated 500,000-plus residents of Cook County, Illinois, who will remain uninsured in 2018. While we are very proud our track record for growing the number of patients served over two decades, we remain deeply committed to expanding access to quality care for those who need it,” said Judith Haasis, CommunityHealth’s executive director. “West Monroe’s work with CommunityHealth has enabled us to make important process and technology changes that have expanded our capacity to serve the community, and it has allowed us to focus our limited staff and budget on other projects vital to our mission.”
West Monroe Partners’ work for CommunityHealth is part of the firm’s “1+1+1” social responsibility initiative, through which it strives to contribute one percent of its time by “matching” up to 24 hours that employees spend outside work on qualified community service activities with a comparable number of hours that those employees may devote to these pursuits while on the job; one percent of its talent through pro bono or at-cost project-based work; and one percent of its “treasure” (revenue) through company donations to organizations in its communities.
West Monroe Partners is one of fifteen firms receiving awards for their work in categories that include pro bono services, community outreach, foundations, sponsorships, days of service, and partnership. A complete list of the winners is available here: www.consultingmag.com/SocialCommunityInvestment.
Consulting® magazine’s October 2015 issue will feature a special Social & Community Investment editorial section profiling the award winners and the community organizations with which they work. The publication is recognizing the award recipients and their community partners at an awards dinner on September 10 at Le Parker Meridian in New York City. A portion of the evening’s proceeds will benefit the organizations with which each of the recognized firms partnered and the causes they have championed.
