Donations accepted for Boley Elementary

Donations accepted for Boley Elementary

Donations are being sought for Boley Elementary, an elementary school located in the City of West Monroe. The school suffered extensive damange from a fire that began on Saturday, April 13.

Donations of monetary gifts, school supplies and gift cards are being accepted. School supplies and gift cards can be dropped off at West Monroe City Hall or the United Way of Northeast Louisiana on Mondays-Fridays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

A bank account has been established at Origin Bank in West Monroe to receive monetary donations. 

AmeriCorps seeking summer team members

AmeriCorps seeking summer team members

SEE (Synergy, Education and Environment) West Monroe AmeriCorps is seeking summer team members. 

Members in West Monroe provide afterschool and summer enrichment, helping students reach their full potential. They also provide other service to the community via neighborhood clean ups, disaster related services, community outreach and much more.

AmeriCorps is about finding a way for every individual to #GetThingsDone through service. Members develop a deeper connection with their community and the families served, while earning an education award for college. Members are also eligible to earn a living stipend while they serve.

Those 18 years old and up are encouraged to make a difference in their community. Applications for the summer team are available on the AmeriCorps page on the City of West Monroe website. For information, call Denise Calhoun at (318) 396-2600.
