West Monroe acquires Carbon Five to continue growing digital product development solutions

WEDNESDAY, DEC. 1 — Today, West Monroe announced it has acquired Carbon Five, a national product management, digital design, and software engineering firm.

The acquisition is part of West Monroe’s strategy to expand its end-to-end digital services in response to unprecedented market demand and comes on the heels of acquiring Verys, a 200-person product development firm, in September. The additions of Verys and Carbon Five round out the foundation for West Monroe’s new, innovative approach to digital consulting that combines expertise in technology, design, and industry-led business strategy to help clients become digital leaders.

Carbon Five brings to West Monroe a proven methodology and product delivery processes that have helped startup companies and Fortune 1000 firms gain market share in their industries. The firm is an expert in building superior digital products and preparing its clients for long-term success by elevating their product management and development capabilities. The company’s nearly 100 designers, product managers, and software engineers boost West Monroe’s ability to deliver across the breadth of the product lifecycle and provide depth in engagements with clients’ product environments.

As part of West Monroe, Carbon Five will collaborate across the firm in multidisciplinary teams made up of technologists, industry experts, business strategists, product engineers, and others to provide a comprehensive set of solutions to West Monroe clients. More than ever, companies need a partner with this multidisciplinary expertise to help them build integrated experiences that combine the physical and digital worlds and align business operations to the new way of working. That is why the firm is building a global product development platform and will continue to invest heavily in this area, with future acquisitions planned to enhance capabilities and scale.

Carbon Five was founded in 2000 and has offices and talent in four major markets: Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Chattanooga. Like West Monroe, Carbon Five has a strong emphasis on culture guided by its people-first mentality. Co-founders Mike Wynholds and Don Thompson will continue to run Carbon Five as a West Monroe-owned company until integration, which is expected to be complete in 2022.

“We are excited to welcome Carbon Five, a likeminded organization with strong talent and integrated product capabilities. When paired up with Verys’s scale and West Monroe’s core expertise in strategy, industry, and tech, we are able to drive long-lasting value and partnership to our clients,” said Tom Bolger, chief strategy officer at West Monroe.

West Monroe is one of the fastest growing digital consulting firms in the United States and continually moves clients closer to running a digital organization. More can be found at WestMonroe.com/BeDigital.
