West Monroe Dedicates More than 1,100 Employees to Volunteer in National Day of Service

CHICAGO – West Monroe Partners, a national business and technology consultancy, today announced it is setting aside consulting work for a day to allow all of its employees to participate in a “National Day of Service” on Friday, June 14, 2019. The volunteer initiative organized across nine cities puts the firm’s more than 1,100 people in their local communities volunteering for 38 organizations in one united effort.

This is the fourth consecutive year that West Monroe has recognized a national day of service and the second year in a row the firm is dedicating a work day that includes all employees. During last year’s day of service, the firm’s employee base volunteered 4,422 hours and provided $12,850 worth of supplies and donations to organizations across the country.

The National Day of Service reflects West Monroe’s commitment to giving back in the communities where its people live and work and is part of the firm’s 1+1+1 initiative, a program through which it strives to donate 1% of its time, 1% of its talent, and 1% of its treasure (profits) to the greater good.

“Our mission to build the next generation of leaders is not just about the workplace. It is also about building and demonstrating leadership in the community. That is very important to our people: One of the things that unites us across all offices is our shared value of social responsibility and commitment to making an impact beyond our professional work,” said Susan Stelter, West Monroe’s chief people officer. “Our National Day of Service is an opportunity to exhibit the level of change we can make when we work together. While we are proud of the ‘good’ our people do in the community year-round, it is especially inspiring to see our unique culture and camaraderie come to life for a shared purpose on this day.”

Organizing West Monroe’s National Day of Service has been a group effort across offices, led by Amanda Mercer and Rohit Agarwal, who co-chair the firm’s charity committee and partner with charity officers in other offices to manage the firm’s charitable efforts . In a grassroots approach, employees were encouraged to nominate charities and events to be a part of the National Day of Service.

“We have been planning for this day for months, and it is exciting to see everything – and everyone – come together and make an impact for so many organizations and people in one day,” said Amanda Mercer, senior consultant in the Operations Excellence practice in Chicago.

“As consultants, we work in teams every day to drive change,” said Rohit Agarwal, senior consultant in the Energy & Utilities practice. “An event like National Day of Service allows us to step back and see the power of teamwork from a different and very meaningful perspective.”

West Monroe was named a top workplace for giving back in 2018 and was part of PEOPLE’s 50 Companies That Care. Additionally, the firm’s Fischer Global Service Fellowship Program received a Social & Community Investment Award from Consulting® magazine in 2016.

West Monroe has grown from a 2002 startup to a firm of more than 1,100 employees across the United States. The 100% employee-owned firm includes a rapidly growing team of business consultants and deep technologists who serve clients in the healthcare and life sciences, financial services, energy and utilities, and consumer and industrial products industries.
