West Monroe Partners, a full-service North American business and technology consultancy, today announced that it has been named the number one, top company in Seattle Business magazine’s 2014 ranking of “Best Companies to Work For—Headquartered Outside of Washington” list. This is the fourth year in a row that Seattle Business has recognized West Monroe Partners in its annual ranking of 100 “Best Companies to Work For” in Washington State based on outstanding employee culture, values, and benefits.

West Monroe received the top ranking on a list of companies headquartered outside of Washington ranked at an awards dinner June 17, 2014, at Westin Seattle. The winners, hailing from 18 cities across the state of Washington, were chosen based on extensive surveys completed by nearly 10,000 employees.  Employees’ detailed responses were used to determine each company’s score in 10 categories, including such vital areas as communication, executive leadership, corporate culture and workplace environment. A panel of judges selected the top winners in each category.

“Receiving this recognition as a top employer four years in a row is a remarkable accomplishment, and we are honored to be in such elite company,” said Tom Bolger, managing director and founder of the Seattle office. “It can be challenging to distinguish one consulting firm from others, but we are successfully doing that at West Monroe Partners. The type of work we do is different, how we do it is different, and we serve a different breed of client. None of that is possible without having a distinctive workplace.”

Founded in 2002, West Monroe Partners has grown to a nearly $82.2 million consultancy with more than 450 consultants across North America. The Seattle office, opened in 2005, serves more than 40 clients in key industries, including banking, private equity, insurance, utilities, and healthcare. Its team numbers more than 60 people, including more than 20 who joined West Monroe Partners in January 2014 through its acquisition of Madrona Solutions Group. West Monroe Partners is moving to new, larger office space in Seattle in July to fully integrate its growing team.

“West Monroe Partners’ focus on developing a truly people-focused workplace was a strong factor in our decision to become part of the organization,” said Brian Paulen, a director in the Seattle office and former CEO of recently acquired Madrona Solutions. “Now that we are a part of the organization and immersed in this culture every day, it’s even clearer how this translates to tremendous service and value to clients. It’s very motivating for our people.”

West Monroe Partners’ Seattle office previously has received workplace accolades from the Puget Sound Business Journal. In addition, the firm has been listed as a top company to work for nationally by Consulting Magazine and Vault Inc., and was named by Great Place to Work as one of the best workplaces in the United States on its annual 2013 Best Small & Medium Workplaces list, published in FORTUNE magazine.

To be considered for the Seattle Business Best Workplaces list, applicants must submit a formal nomination, participate in an employee satisfaction survey conducted by an independent third party, and then be selected by a panel of judges from previously recognized workplaces throughout the state.

The judges’ conclusions were based in part on data submitted anonymously by thousands of employees of the participating businesses. For judging purposes, nominated companies were separated into five classifications: small firms (30 or fewer employees), midsize (31 to 100 employees), large (more than 100 employees), nonprofits and firms headquartered outside Washington.
